Christmas is 14 days away, here are some last minute gift ideas for either yourself or others.

1. The Anamanaguchi/Starscream Split 7” is still available at Insound for only $8.99

It is the only Anamanaguchi vinyl you can purchase at the moment (unless you have $600 for Dawn Metropolis) and the only piece of Starscream merch you can still purchase before their name change.

2. The Furby Love t-shirt is still available in Small through XL

3. The Furby Tie-Dye t-shirts are available in multiple colours and sizes

and finally

4. The older Rocket and Fireballs t-shirts are still available in XS for the discounted rate of $13

This hasn’t even been officially released and it’s my new favorite song.

Infinity Shred

dance-alone:

chiptune / post rock

For fans of: Mogwai, 65daysofstatic, Anamanaguchi

Infinity Shred are a band from New York that produce an amazing combination of post-rock and chiptune music. Originally called Starscream the band were forced to change their name for stupid legal reasons, which is a shame because Starscream is a fucking sick name. Anyway, under the name Starscream they released one EP and a full length Future, Towards the Edge of Tomorrow both receiving acclaim from video game nerds and post-rock dorks alike. After their name change the band came out with EP001 (Gnar Dream) which, in my opinion, is their best work yet. So, if you want to know what it would sound like if This Will Destroy You were commissioned to write a video game soundtrack fifteen years ago then you should listen to Infinity Shred. Even if that doesn’t interest you at all, YOU SHOULD STILL FUCKING LISTEN TO INFINITY SHRED.

Blip Fest Game Boys

photos by Dean Putney

Taking place this past weekend in New York, Blip Fest showcases some of the best bleeps and bloops from chiptune artists across the globe. Dean got a few pictures of some of the performers’ main weapon of choice: modded Game Boys customized with ProSound and running Korg software, but unfortunately replacing the vintage green on green on green screens (most of these are backlit so the performers can actually see what they’re doing while on stage). Check out the entire set over at Dean’s flickr.

"Chiptune is not actually a genre, but rather simply a process for producing the music, which can range in sound from fast, upbeat punk to a slow, dispirited, ambient sound."
